The Public Park – Hveragerði
The Botanic Garden inHveragerði offers excellent recreational opportunities for a lovely day of family fun. The planting and cultivation of the botanic garden started in 1983 and now the area is full of beautiful vegetation along with a playground and picnic facilities that anyone are free to use. There are also a few marked walking trails, one of them leads along the banks of Varmá River where you’ll find house remains on an old wool factory built in 1902 and got all its energy from Reykjafoss waterfall, located further up the stream.These remains also mark the start of settlement in Hveragerði. In the small canyon of the river, you’ll encounter nature’s diverse colours and striking landscapes shaped by the hot springs of Hveragerði.
