The Strýtan Day Tour is Strýtan Dive-center’s most popular tour. It contains two dives to two different dive sites, both hydrothermal chimneys, Arnarnesstrýtan and Strýtan. This tour is made for experienced divers that want to dive in a unique environment. Arnarnesstrýtur are full of diverse marine life and Strýtan is a unique dive site, standing 65 meters in the middle of the fjord and rises 15 meters.
There are too many unique things to list. It’s really a special experience to meet Erlendur and Saevor and to dive the underwater geothermal chimneys and springs, meet pet wolf fish (man’s best underwater friend), whales, see northern marine flora and fauna, check out the diving museum, the small community where the center is located – it’s not to be missed. The equipment is high quality / professional grade, the conditions for my dives were perfect, the scenery around the fjord is marvellous. I only regret that I didn’t have more time to do other dives in the area. Get your dry-suit certs and come dive in Iceland. It’s totally worth it.
We drove in our 4×4 from Reykjavik to Akureyri via the “dust-road” to this dive centre to dive the chimneys. The people at the centre were very helpful, kind, informative and funny. We went out on the rib did 2 great dives. After diving, we went Humpback Whale watching and had the opportunity to snorkel with them. Thank you for making our trip so much fun!
